    RajaRajeswari College of Physiotherapy, in collaboration with the Department of Physiology, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH), organized a program to commemorate World Sickle Cell Awareness Day on 19th June 2026 at the RRMCH Campus. The event was conducted under the theme “Closing the Survival Gap – Equality in Sickle Cell Diseases.”

    The program aimed to create awareness about Sickle Cell Diseaseand the importance of early diagnosis, comprehensive management, and equitable healthcare access.The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Ambreseri, who shared valuable insights on Sickle Cell Disease, emphasizing its epidemiology, challenges in management, and the need for increased public awareness and healthcare support.

    As part of the academic activities, students actively participated in poster presentations highlighting various aspects of Sickle Cell Disease. Students also delivered messages on the pathophysiology, clinical features, complications, diagnosisand treatment of the condition. Their presentations reflected a sound understanding of the disease process and its multidisciplinary management.The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, scientific discussion, and awareness among students and faculty members. It successfully reinforced the importance of education and advocacy in improving the lives of individuals affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
