RajaRajeswari College of Physiotherapy conducted a World Stroke Day Awareness Programme on 14 October 2026 at K. R. Halli Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Bengaluru. The programme was organized by MPT students and faculty members from the Neurological Physiotherapy and Community Physiotherapy departments to promote stroke awareness among the rural community.
The programme focused on educating community members about stroke, its warning signs, risk factors, preventive measures and the importance of seeking immediate medical attention. Community members actively participated in the programme and showed keen interest in the awareness activities. They also volunteered as models during exercise demonstrations, making the session interactive and providing practical learning experiences. The demonstrations emphasized the importance of appropriate physical activity and the role of physiotherapy in maintaining health and supporting functional recovery.
In keeping with the theme “Every Minute Counts,” the programme emphasized stroke recognition through the FAST approach (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, and Time to seek emergency medical assistance), highlighting the importance of early recognition and prompt treatment. The active participation of rural community members reinforced the value of community-based health education in promoting stroke prevention, timely intervention, and awareness of healthier practices.
Recognize the Signs. Act FAST. Every Minute Counts!
